It’s worth it and so much cheaper to make your own margaritas. The flavor options are limitless, but there is just something clean and pure about the classic lime margarita taste.
We make our own simple syrup with 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water. You won’t boil it, simply warm and stir your sugar water until the sugar is dissolved and your water appears clear. you’ll want to make this ahead since it needs to be cool to blend into your margarita. See the recipe and video here.
Classic Frozen Margarita
Cool, refreshing, and limey tartness.
Equipment
- 1 blender it really is necessary to make this, we have a Vitamix
- 1 Immersion Blender this will do in a pinch
Ingredients
- 6 cups ice
- 4 oz simple syrup we make our own*
- 6 0z tequila
- 4 oz triple sec
- 1 Tbsp lime zest
- 1 cup fresh lime juice about 8 limes, and yes fresh is best
Instructions
- Place all ingredients into a blender (or a pitcher if using the immersion blender) and blend until smooth. Add more ice if you want a thicker margarita. Garnish with lime wedges and serve immediately.
Notes
To make your own simple syrup, whisk equal parts sugar and water in a pan over medium heat until sugar dissolves (the water appears clear again).

Such a simple recipe— crazy that restaurants charge $6 for a single glass
Right? And I think they taste better at home too without the premade simple syrup 🙂
